General Gym Rental Rules

Rental rules
Our gym permits allow us access to school gyms for two hours from 8:00PM to 10:00PM. There are some particularities to certain gyms, but all include the following rules:

  1. Be sure to sign in upon entering and exiting a school. This is important information for those who may still be in the school so they do not arm the system while you are still there. Conversely, when signing out, please check if there is anyone else in the building (i.e. caretakers, teachers, etc.). Please set the alarm upon exiting only if there is no one else in the building.  If you are playing at Laval High School or Laval Elementary School there are no keys or signing in/out required. If you are playing at Plainsview or Harbour Landing School there are keys but no signing in/out required.
  2. Do not leave school entrances unlocked or propped open. This poses a security risk for which the league is liable.
  3. Teams must wait until 8:00 PM to enter the facilities and exit the building by 10:00PM. This means that teams may need to end their match earlier to allow time to return equipment, check whether the school is empty, and exit.

Time allotments

  • Time allotment for each school is 2 hours, or 60 minutes per game.
  • As stated above, our permitted time at each school is from 8 PM until 10 PM.

Here are the schools for this season. They will be allotted to each division once we have the exact number of teams.

Game Play

You may reference the VOLLEYBALL CANADA 2026-2027 OFFICIAL VOLLEYBALL RULES for complete rules. Please take a look at the summary of the rulebook changes.
Please ensure that all team members are familiar with current rules.
As there are no referees,
  • players play on the honour system and must call their own faults
  • Team captains are expected to handle disputes, should there be disagreement on a call made
  • If the dispute cannot be resolved, then the ball should be re-served
  • The play will be declared dead on a court when a ball from the other court enters

Should your team/team captain have questions or concerns regarding unsportsmanlike behaviour, please direct these inquiries to Dominic Blais or Sheila Tran by e-mail at TNVolleyball@Outlook.com.
